I was talking to a friend at school today and he's telling me that his parents own a fish farm in California. They raise and sell trout, LM bass, and 1 or 2 more species as well. Most of the product goes to China Town(Cali)to stores etc. Anyways my friend used to work on the farm which has several large 20-40 acre ponds and 1- 300 to 400 acre reservoir. The reservoir as well as the ponds are all kept warm ALL YEAR by a nearby hot spring, and are continually replenished by a small river. He was saying that at the reservoir he witnessed small ducks etc....innocently drifting around and then.....Sloooooooooop !
I have heard about bass eating ducks before but have never been fortunate enough to witness such a rare thing(except via buzzbait) Makes me want to by that BIG baby duck lure down there at the $(*&^%warehouse....
So I was wondering If any IFISHERS have been lucky enough too see this happen. Or maybe some other critter.
I am currently seeking permission to fish this reservoir......

Somone posted a utube of a medium sized largie eating a baby gator. That one would hurt going out the other end, as the mouth size doesn't equate, and i can't imagiine a LM"S enzymes will brake down a tough gator skin. In my dad's old wooden bass/pike lure collection he's got some lures that look like the are supposed to be birds.

I have seen a LMB take a bird twice in the last 5 years. Both times were at the Powder Arm of the Snake River. The problem is that once that bass eats such a large meal it will be days before that bass needs to eat again. But for some reason I remember exacty where those two spots were.
BTW I know a couple of the guys that I fish with have seen the same thing on the same body of water.

A bass tried to take a duckling last summer in my local pond. The duckling started freaking out and the mom instantly stuck her head in the water and started going crazy... Not sure if she could reach the bass or not, but the spots was only a few inches deep so its possible. After that they swam off and everything seemed fine.
