I'm heading to Siltcoos Lake April 2nd thru the 5th and would like a bit of info from some of the locals there or someone who fishes it on a regular basis.

I've fished Siltcoos many many time but generally I go later in the year like August & September.

I 'still' fish, out of the boat, using Power Bait off the bottom, around the edges of the entire lake. I anchor away from the edges of the weed beds and such, and toss my offering right on those edges to float the Power Bait off the bottom. I've done pretty good that way.

Trolling, I've used Brass or Chrome "Beer Cans" followed with a small FROG Flatfish and done well with that also. I've caught trout also trailing a Rooster Tail generally in a darker color like Brown or even Black. And, I've trailed a small Spin-n-Glo in Pink & White and have done good with that too.

I would take ANY suggestons on how to fish it, and where to fish it also. It is never too early or late to learn new things!!!

Basically, I 'kind of know' how to fish it but just want a current update as to how the fishing is right now. We're going to focus on trout and will save the bass fishing until later in the year when things warm up a bit.

Thanks in advance,
Ken

We fish the lakes around Florence a couple times a year. I wouldn't change what your doing if it works for you. I like Mercer and Munsel early in the year and the bigger lakes later. We're basic worm on a hook trollers and fish the bottom with Gulp PB or worms and a marshmellow. We generally bring home a few trophies. Good luck. Our next trip down there will be the first week of May.

Thanks for the update...We're staying at Ada Resort & RV Park for the time we're there...4/3 thru 4/5, and heading home to Nehalem around noon, or so, on Sunday. I'll no doubt troll some and check with the guys at Ada to see if there is one lure better than another...But, like I said, I use a little of everything and it seems to work. As far as still fishing, I just do a 1/2-3/4 oz. cannonball on a slip rig with a #12 treble hook 22"-23" above the swivel. I wad up the PB just so the hook can't be seen, cast it in, and let it spread its Milkey Wonder. We cast to the edge of the weed beds and hope for the best...Last time I did this still fishing thing out of the boat I got a nice super fat 4.5 lb. buck....I was amazed!
