It's a ways off ...4Th of July...But I want to plan ahead because the smack talk is already getting pretty heavy and I don't have a clue re: Paulina and very little kokonee experience. No downrigger and the "smack talkers" mostly jig. I'm gonna need from the basics (ie equipment) on up to all your top secrets:D Thx in advance...

OK swampy, you've gotten a few PM's from different people. You're probably an expert now, :D How about sharing the tips you're collecting?

Time of day has always been important to me @ Paulina in July. REALLY early or late in the day. Sometimes you can catch your limit before the sun hits the water. If you want any trolling info PM me. Good luck!

:agree: Especially those early afternoons with the sun glaring straight down. The mid-day bite can really be off during the dog days of summer. Although mid-mornings (8-11) can be good for the bigger kokes, at least on jigs. Sometimes during the afternoon it's hard to see a blip on the fish finder. I've often wondered where the fish go? If they're laying on the bottom they sure don't want to bite. There's so much natural beauty to enjoy in the crater area that taking a walk after lunch, camera-in-hand, can be a decent choice at least until the sun starts to set a little. Also sitting in a lawn chair at camp with some good reading material works pretty well for some of us older buzzards. :D

More of the same. The later you start, the harder it will get to get that last fish in the boat. Most days, I've been on the water at daybreak and I've been back at camp by 11:00 and have already cleaned the fish. Take a nap, walk around the lake, go to East Lake and get ice cream, take another nap, BBQ some fish, drink a cold one and relax!

we like East better and go there once a year late summer less people still enough fish use a stiff trout rod if your jig-ing. I hate to say Buz bomb but you can try one about 40 ft around other boats if you don't have a finder . they sell a map for 50 cents at the lodge let the wind blow you around. good takes but they have a soft mouth,,,,,,,,,,Don't over look the trout and browns ,,,,,,,,,,,, Have Fun and be Safe
