I work and go to school full time and starting next Friday I am off school for spring break and I am taking Friday off work to get away for the weekend. Where is a good lake to hit with a boat, within 3 hours of Portland to camp and fish. I was thinking Pine Hollow, but I don't know if it is frozen over, or Detroit. Anyone have any suggestions on where to camp/fish and get into some fish? Thanks for helping a busy guy out?

green peter has been pretty good for me lately... not much in the way of kokes but a rainbow limit is pretty easy to pull trolling by the damn. 1/4 ounce of lead dodger and a proll troll trout killer or wedding ring baited with corn slam them all day long.

Thanks Eagle and Mini. Report on Haystack will be great. Mini, what size were the rainbows? I have a drift boat with a 6hp motor, how windy is GP? I know it is a large lake.

Thanks for the information,

It's not a lake, but Springer fishing should be getting into swing next weekend, and it's close:D.

Bobber,

I am 0-150 in my life of springer fishing, with three takedowns. A few years ago for two seasons straight, I was out at least once a week and never caught one, had a couple take downs but nothing in the boat. I finish school (I am on the 20 year plan!) next month and plan on going out with a guide. Until then, I will fish for steelhead (enjoy the scenery and get skunked) and catch a few trout. I like trout fishing, they are not smart fish, so we have something in common. lol!

Any other reports? I am probably going to go to Pine Hollow/Rock Creek. Does anyone know if there are any other lakes within 15 miles of those listed? I know Badger is up there, but it will still be snowed in.

I ended up camping and fishing at Rock Creek Reservoir and fishing was good for stockers, plus there were a couple brooders taken out. I stopped over at Pine Hollow and the reports sounded the same (I had to catch up on my NCAA Bracket in the bar at the resort).

I used the new fish finder on the drift boat and it worked great. The temp in the lake was between 45-47 degrees and the deepest point in the lake I found was 43 feet.
