About time for a new thread that will hopefully serve as a way to communicate Kokanee Power info to members and those interested.
I would like to welcome the new members from the Central Oregon Sportsmans Show. They are: J. Sauls of Culver; Lawrence Smith of Prineville; Royce Embanks and Tom Turner of Madras; Neal Dunbar and Bob Harbison of Bend. Nice to have you! I believe we now have over 150 members and applications continue to trickle in.
A big THANK YOU to Brian Russell (aka Fall River Guy) for donating a day and a half of his time manning the booth. Much appreciated, and a job well done.
Thanks to all who signed the "Two Rod Petition" for Oregon inland waters. It was great talking 'fishin' with the Central Oregon people, nice to meet you.
A general membership meeting was held in the Medford area last week. Watch the threads for an announcement for a meeting in or around Albany for us Central Valley folks. Hopefully by the end of the month, or beginning of next month.
Kokanee Derby April 25th at Lake Billy Chinook, details to follow. Kokanee Derby June 6th at Green Peter Reservoir. Kokanee Derby August 22nd. And our Grand Finale two-day trout derby and banquet at Diamond Lake September 26th and 27th. Information will be available soon on our website. Entry forms will be available on our website as well.

Hey! Elk talker are you and your son going to make it up?? I heard through the grapevine you had some tough luck with your boat. We can surely find some open seats if you are boat less.

Thanks for the info Rogue Rick. I hear you have a new partner for this derby. That's good, you needed one after your showing at Green Peter and Crescent last year. We will see if you Southern boys have learned to fish yet. I heard your new partner knows how. Oh, yeah, one more thing. That 'bug' I gave you last year is exclusively for Green Peter Reservoir, I wouldn't try it at LBC.
Hope to see a bunch of folks there. Absolutely guaranteed to be a good time.

I noticed the entry form for the LBC derby still says side pot for "biggest brown." Is that going to be changed to biggest bull? Browns are few and far between. I have caught exactly 1 and that was up in the Deschutes arm.

Yes! we have changed the side pot to say 50/50 drawing, not wanting to kill off bull trout needlessly.
By the way we have rented a house boat that sleeps 14 and only have 6 people signed up to stay on it. If anyone wants or needs a place to stay we have extra. I think it will be a fun time. The house boat will available Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights.Come join us, I am sure there will be lots of hunting and fishing stories :thisbig:told and few beers drank. We might get to see capron dance, you guys do know that he used to be a Chip and Dale dancer, right?:D

Patner? Can two entrants in the same boat combine their fish and weigh in the best five from all that both have caught? Or does each entrant have to weigh in only the best five of the fish they caught themselves?

Our derbies are individual derbies, not team derbies at this time. So, to answer your question, no you can't combine the fish. Also, please note that individuals may only weigh 3 fish at the Lake Billy Chinook and O'Dell Lake derbies. We are, however, going to weigh 5 fish at the Green Peter Derby this year. If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to ask.

I will only dance if I can wear my pink chicken swede boots.

Wow guys, and gals. Where is all the chatter?? We have a derby in five days at Lake Billy Chinook. Am I the only one that is excited and ecstatic about it?? :meme:I will be there with bells on and maybe the pink chicken boots too. The singing and dancing depends on how much "Jack" is available or course. :passout: I heard that Sparse Gray Hackle is coming up from the south to entertain us, and bringing some guy from Uncle Larry's Lures. :applause: He really did need a fishing partner, so that is a good thing. My fishing partner has yet to catch a kokanee so that should be entertaining in itself. That may be a bad thing. (No offense intended Hank, we will get you tuned in.) Prez Greg and his partner will be there. Irishfish will be there to cook burgers, and maybe fish a little. Fall River Guy is bringing a couple fishermen with him. We do have several more entrants but I am not privvy to that info at this time. Who all is coming? Feel free to chime in.
5 days left. Look forward to seeing everyone there and putting some more faces and names together.

Yee Haw, only 4 days til derby day. Can't wait.
I must say, though, I will be there Thursday and Friday to practice a little. Local word is the weather may be a little spotty but the fishing should be good. Sounds good to me.
We can still take derby applications. By telephone even, with a credit card. Call Greg 541-973-4831 or Ron 707-350-3430. We will try to do whatever it takes to get you signed up.
Oh, Sparse Gray Hackle, due to the change in weather the Speedo is out. But........the pink chicken swede boots haven't been ruled out yet!!!

Now there is only three days left. Some of us are leaving tomorrow morning and I hear there are some already there that have rented cabins. I am jealous that they are getting more time to practice. Hope to see lots of you there.
Yes, we can still take entries via phone.
