If you have read my posts recently, you know that I have just moved to Klamath and have been doing everything I can to get into the fish. I love it here, lots of water to fish, not to far of a drivem and the fish are huge! Although I haven't had a chance at a monster yet, we (My girlfriend and I have found a few fish and had a good time chasing them.
Today, since the weather was going to be so nice we decided to see if we could go get another rainbow for the grill. After about an hour out, she let me know that the pole seemed to be acting a bit different than just the wind. "Any second now" she said and literally less than a minute later the rod started going crazy. Kali grabbed the pole, hooked the fish, and the fight was on. This being her first big fish we did struggle a bit to keep it under control but once she had it figured out the big bow was on its way to the net.
After the celebration of landing her first Klamath rainbow we snapped several pictures and tried to catch one more for me, Didn't happen... Anyways heres a pic, hope you all enjoy, Better than looking at my ugly mug holding another fish at least. Final stats were 3 pounds 14 ounces and 21 1/2 inches, not bad for her first big fish!
Good luck to everyone and see ya at the lake!

Congratulations to both of you. Your persistence in learning a new lake has really paid dividends. Getting out-fished by your loved one will always pay off in the long run too! :thisbig:

I agree, I don't mind getting outfished once in awhile. I had told her early on that it was her turn to catch one and she was going to do it herself. When she hooked that fish I could tell she was nothing short of excited and when we had it in the net she was shaking like a leaf with a huge smile. I have to say I was definitely shaking and excited to. It was all hers, I didn't set the hook and hand the pole off or anything. We have fished together a ton over the last year and to finally be catching "REAL" fish is a nice change!

Nice fish!:excited: I have been keeping up on your posts and it just makes me jealous that I live too far away to share that wonderful lake with you, but that is why the lake is so great, not over fished like places around the Portland/metro area. Now that we finally got to see Kali I think she should model all of the fish from now on.:throb: keep the reports coming maybe I can make a trip to that area sometime.

Your a lucky man. My sweet bride of 40 years still won't touch a fish unless it is ready for the frypan.

That sounds great,
Yep still hitting the Eagle Ridge area, a bit farther to drive but a good area that seems to hold a lot of fish and present a few good areas to fish. I will be heading back to sweet home on Wednesday but will be back in less than a week and will be looking forward to catching more big fish. Until then I guess it will be back to foster and green peter little fish.
I will do my best to start having Kali model my fish but as she has finals coming up you may get more of me, if I can catch them that is!!!!

Made the trip to K Falls yesterday for work, went by the lake just before daylight and there were a lot of bankies, came back about 5:00pm, and nobody there for the evening fish????. I could not stop but is the evening fish not any good?

I think the evening fishing should be good too but a lot of time it seems that the wind picks up in the late afternoon more than earlier in the day. We have caught all of our fish thus far earlier between 12-4 and have usually left before it gets to late. I have a feeling that the bite is all dayif you spend the time and the weather conditions are right. A bit overcast and some wind to produce some waves seems to be the best thus far!

Don't discount the evening bite. My friend caught a 30" redband at sunset a week ago.
