Well its far from perfect, but I am happy with it, and it was a learning tool.. So, garage sale rod, that I stripped, sanded and re-painted. Recycled guides. Used yellow, metallic green and black. It doesnt pop like I wanted, but its a kids rod so.

looks great!....what paint did you end up using for the rod?...does it look like it will hold up?...also, how hard was it to weave that green wrap?.....congratulations hook.... I hope its the first of many!

I just used regular old Krylon then gave it a couple coats of sealer. It looks like it should hold. The green wrap was easy, its actually a screw-up. I tried doing somthing stickfish told me, but I screwed it up. But since it looks like a V and the kids name is Vince, I thought, that will work.

Nice job. My first rod should have been a tomato stake.
