Hi everyone- I am new to the ifish forums and just thought I'd say hi.
I am an avid flyfisherman and hunter. I also play collegiate baseball which cuts down on my outdoor time but its a lot of fun.
Hopefully I can add something to the forum.

I am assuming you mean baseball... if i get drafted I'll go see what i can do.
I can't imagine a bigger thrill in baseball than getting drafted or playing pro ball.

alright... Here is my story.
my name is david and I go to pepperdine University in malibu CA. This is good for baseball but horrible for my kind of outdoors.
I have been fishing for as long as I can remeber. i grew up fishing puget sound and where ever my dad would take me. I have spent many a day sitting on my dock catching dogfish.
Now I mainly target src and salmon in the salt although fishing streams for salmon and big trout is a favorite of mine.
Last summer I was a guide in Puget sound and did that along with a lot of fishing. it was proabably the best summer I have evr had as far as fishing. I caught a ton of big (20+inch) src and some silvers, although they didn't show up like i would have liked them to.
In early June I was fishing the Restigouche River in New Brunswick for 2 weeks. during that time I caught a lot of Atlantic salmon. Many of them on a dry fly which is the greatest thrill of all. The 3 biggest that I landed were 38, 33, and 26 but I did lose a fish that was bigger than the 38. I hooked that fish fishing a patten and dont think I set the hook hard enough. He was able to rub the fly out after about 10 minutes and several jumps. :depressed:
Nothing better than watching a big atlantic salmon rise up to take a dry. I love that.

stew- please don't ever wish me stuck down here in socal again. I can't stand it. The fishing aint great and the hunting is poor at best. Aint nothing like the northwest for hunting and fishing.
Gotta love watching chinook roll in the columbia under a flock of cupped mallards. Thats is where it is at
but please NO SOCAL
Okay how about the "Portland Expos"
Lived in SoCal for 17 years and about the only thing I miss is the Dodgers and the Mexican food. Fishing? what fishing?

OK I was just trying to be nice. The surf fishing for perch is about all there is for the fly guys but i guess you can go out and bait fish of of charters.
The lower owens is OK but far from a good trout stream and its all the way up in Bishop.

hick- ya i am over on westfly too.
andy- salmon on a dry fly is the best ever. seeing 30+ pound fish rise to the surface to take a dry is the coolest thing ever. I love seeing the white chin lift off the bottom and start coasting up. It can be very frustrating too though if you get too excited. striking the fish too early was a problem of mine for a few years. Now I fight myself everytime I see a fish come up. I hate it when I strike too early. it sucks.
Here is another one I caught on a dry fly. 33 pounds and the most beautiful atlantic I have evr seen. I love the blue on its cheek.
