Don't know how, but it seems that most of the Kokanee information is posted here and so I follow suit.

Found a rod at Big R I believe will be a perfect downrigger rod for Kokanee fishing. It is a Daiwa Spinmatic-X (SM-X702ULFB), 7 foot graphite bait casting rod rated for 2-6. The rod has 9 guides and feels more like a glass rod than graphite. Additional bonus is a price of only $30.

Looks good; I'll check it out tomorrow. So when are we gonna field-test 'em?

FRG- Good find on the Ultra Light Rod I will have to look at Fishermans Marine Supply to see if they have that model in.
We use smaller and shoter ultra lights as they take up less room in the boat.

The perfect kokanee downrigger or flat trolling rod is what I use  . Its a Shimano Magnumlite Graphite ML-1522 Its 5" 2" long, rated med/light action (bass), 6-15 lb. line and 1/8 - 3/4 oz. lure rated. I use a Shimano Bantam Mag level wind reel on the rod with 8 lb. Maxima Chameleon......I've put literally hundreds of kokanee in the boat with this rod & reel.

I had TH custom rods make a casting/trolling rod out of a Rainshadow 3wt. flyrod blank. It was a retirement gift for my Dad. He loves it.

Some day I hope to have TH make me a rod like that. But for now I think this is a very nice rod for the money and will alow me to enjoy the fight Kokanee are capable of when using the right gear.
