Unfortunately it probably won't get you a ticket because no one is there to enforce the rules. The only enforcement out there is the Sheriff's department and they won't even bother to spot check licences. They told us that they are only out there to enforce boating regulations because they don't get paid by ODFW to enforce fishing regs. Multiple rods is probably the smallest infraction they commit.

not trying to start anything but thats kind of immature jj.. they are not hurting anyone and if they are used multiple poles they probably have never (or will ever) caught anything. just my 2 cents, keep track of yourself and others will follow

They are, and I had a discussion with them at the boat ramp just today about the fishing regs/rules that I am well aware of, I fish there every year for trout.
Have seen many a people on the limit violation EVERY weekend, and are bank fishers, not to say all bank fishers but I am sure boats as well.
They have issued tickets, 3 yesterday and 2 today for just that multiple lines. For those whom received tickets.... good. :applause:
But chaps my hide as to why people have to do it, my gosh there is plenty of fish in the lake and you need 2 extra lines out? They do enforce the fishing regs, so we are clear there and can ticket you for no fishing license as well as your boat not meeting the requirements, current reg, boaters card, etc.....
Next time you are up there may want to check with them and get some clarification, I sure did.
I am glad they are usually always there, hope the enforcement puts money in their budget to pay those fine guys!

If we all stuck to ourselfs it would get us nowwhere, the cops cant be everywhere, Ive had many tell me they love when they get reports, they need our help, its a big area and their expected to cover it all with few personel, i understand that there are some who "need" the food so should they be able to? or should they be allowed to shoot a deer out of season? not saying either way jut saying theres a thin line and where do you draw it if you let certain people get away with it...

Criminals hate to be photographed. Many phones have cameras these days. A poor bum with a couple rods, who cares? A fancy boater with a spider rig? He's got it coming. However, treat everyone like they have a gun, because you never know.

Please report all violators using two poles. Its getting worse, and its up to us to report it, everytime. Most of these types have no regard for the resource, and are proud of it.

So is it just me, or is that about as myopic as one can get? :hoboy:

I 100% agree Kevin. We have far too many opportunities, as well as fish and game issues in the PNW to allow such ignorance and selfishness to go unchecked. And it never seems to stop at one infraction. The same people are more likely to keep an out of bracket sturgeon, an unclipped salmon/steelhead in an area that doesn't allow them to be kept, or a cow elk in a bulls only unit.

People need to just follow the rules. I would not go out looking for people with two poles as I would not be looking for speeders. If they blatantly out in the open have two poles and I notice it and NOT looking for it then I think I would try to inform them of the mistake and be on my way.. Dont be a tattle tale it is not up to us, its up to the LEOS to enforce the rules as its the Police who right tickets.. Would you follow and call the police on a speeder? Its not even a crime its a violation

If you say so but I'm not sure how. I guy says someone breaking the laws is "not hurting anyone", and then comes back and says "i wish you could just report people keeping big bass".
Given that Webster defines myopic as "a lack of foresight or discernment: a narrow view of something", I'm pretty sure that qualifies. Therefore, I think it follows that your post about my comment was, in fact, the "overstat(e)ment". But thank you for your concern.
Me? As for the topic at hand, I tend to believe that people should follow game regulations, along with the other laws of the land, whatever they are. Now, although that might make me a conformist, not sure it makes me myopic. After all, I enjoy fishing salt and fresh water, salmon and bass.
Hopefully the fact that I contend that being flippant about following regulations is wrong, and that I happen to suggest that to (coincidentally) a bass fisherman, won't bring down the entire bass fishing community on me in his defense regardless of the topic at hand…..

thanks for busting out webster, but i feel that i was educated enough to define the word to my liking when reading your post :D
i take it as being narrow minded. all that was said is he wated to report people that kept bass. you either agree with it or you dont, its just a statement.
either way...if people are breaking the law, the park rangers and fish n game might want to know about it

LOL. Yep, I guess at the end of the day, you and I agree on the topic at hand, regs should be followed. I suppose two out of three ain't bad. I hope sharing that belief doesn't make us both narrow minded. :D

Lots of people call and follow cars for miles and miles, sometimes it the only way the vehicle is located and stopped. If you have all the info you can call the local DA and file the complaint yourself. The LEO's cannot be everywhere all the time. And last time I checked, park rangers coull not write tickets.

It's too bad for 2 reasons: first, they're breaking the law, plainly; and two, we SHOULD be allowed to option for a second pole! Other states allow it.

I'll second that. And of course many states don't care how many poles you use. I miss the spider rigging down in Texas.

I'll second that. And of course many states don't care how many poles you use. I miss the spider rigging down in Texas.I agree FF. I too miss using multiple lines when crappie fishing. I also wonder how many of the would be wardens on here, that have the poaching hotline on their speed dial, are some of the people that come flying around me doing 20 mph over the speed limit. Or have trash flying out of the back of their rigs. Or have alcohol on board their boats and then drive home after consuming it. Or a host of other things that they could be busted for.
When I moved up here the first thing that I noticed was how over-regulated everything is. It makes a southern boy's head spin at first. The fishing regulations take an attorney to interpet.
I live in a town of about 1,800. We have 6 full time cops and 4 part time. Give me a break! In Arkansas you would be lucky to have 3 in a town this size. The cops have to constantly pull people over to write as many tickets as possible to justify their existence.
But is seems that is what the people from here like. Please don't move down south. The laid back way of living and letting others live their own lives would probably put you into shock. There are no closed season on any fish. Day or night is fine too. You can fish with as many poles as you can handle. You can use trot-lines and yo-yos (mechanical fishing devices), or jugs to catch fish. And the fishing is better down there than here. You don't have to take a goose test to hunt geese. You don't have to have a boaters card to prove you can drive a boat. You teach your own kids about gun safety. People don't run around following others around trying to get them busted. Some of you guys remind me of... Never mind.

Yep. As many lines as one can use, the better. Personally, I prefer long-lining, much more productive use of my time and since it's legal in some places so should ge here too..........

Whether you caught them all on one pole or not, the end result is the same.
