Clack today with Joel

Fished a 2/3rd day today from Felds to Barton, on my boat was Joel aka "Flymadness" and Erik aka "Ifishsum". I had a borrowed spey rod and took a few turns at it, very frustrating as Joel was a master with the snake roll cast and the few times I layed out a decent cast he wasn't watching!
No fish touched but I learned a lot, not used to being the one in training.
We pulled uh, "wiggle flies" in a few spots and traded hand at the oars, a fun day on the river nonetheless.
One boat that passed us got a Summer fish at upper McIver but that was all we heard of.
Joel, thanks for the tips and it was very cool just to watch you lay out those beautiful casts, it looks like I've got some serious work to do!!!

Mikey,
It is a good thing you weren't watching me too closely. At one point I went into a spastic fit with the spey rod. I would not recommend anyone try this at any point in their lives. The end result was a fly wizzing much closer to my eye than any object rightly should. :wink: I few vulgarities later and the line finally went out in front of me in a pile. :mad: A few more vulgarities and some deep breathing before I could get back on to some good casts. :grin:
Thanks for the ego boosting about the casting. Looking forward to getting back out there with you again. I learned a lot about the drift we did. :dance: Joel
