For you flyfishers out there who like to smoke cigars: What's your favorite smoke? Personally I go the cheaper route when floating and fishing and go up in quality when I'm on the bank. Incidently, how many fly lines have you burned?

When I'm fishing I like a tin of Macanudo Ascots. If I get into something big and the smoke goes flying then I'm not out that much. No fly lines have been damaged as of yet.

Where do I start...
I guess for float tubin', I break out some yummy yard 'gars like Connies, Rolys, La Finca, JR Alts, etc... but save a nice HDM, ERDM, or H. Upmann, for the ride home.

Hey, an Ifish herf sounds like fun.

Make it two of us who like the MAc Ascots in the boat. No burned lines yet. And I like a nice Macanudo Portofino Robusto for the ride home!

Nothing better than a cigar to keep the mosquitos away! I like something with a hint of sweetness and costs less than $10. You can see I'm no expert.

Except when you are running Buckskin in your toon' boat you gotta have one of those magnesium tipped Cubans that stay lit under water......

No substitute for a good cigar. I like cohibas and a cheap but real good cigar is cubanos. www.jrcigar.com (http://www.jrcigar.com) is a great place to shop for good but cheap cigars. Arturo Fuente is my favorite but that is also the favorite of every body else and they are hard to come by. Never burned a fly line but have gotten too excited and stuck the burning end of the cigar in my mouth. OUCH  graemlins/dork.gif

Does any one out there smoke a pipe while fishing?

Ahh I cracked up when I read this thread. Not too many years ago my cousin and I went fishing with some leader tied to a baboo shoot and a dry fly on the end. My cousin took one of his dads cigars "we were slightly underage" and we went out and a good ol' time catching some little trout untill....I was paying more attention to the cigar and less to fishing and yup you guessed it burnt my line and the fly was gone. That was a bad end to a very memoriable outing.

Now that was a feat of pluck and daring Mikey....how that dam thing stayed lit was fodder for Ripley's Believe it or Not.

No skeeters here in the NW to speak of but in some locations, Michigan, Alaska, Maine, Northern Canada etc., it's either a cigar or full body armor.

Ah yes, JR. The lifeline for all true cigar lovers. Let's hope they don't mess with the current tax situation. :hoboy:

Once chucked a spent Punch Rothchild into the river at trout creek and dam didn't a fish come up and eat it. Thought about tying up a copy but killed the idea.

Hoyo Rothschild, double maduro
El Rey del Mundo Robusto Larga
Hoyo Excaliber No. 1 maduro

Works well as a mosquito deterent but for the more aggressive little buggers, I find that a crucifix works best. But you have to hit 'em really hard.

He he he ...I love it! I used to go with the Macanudo Ascots too! Then, I started gettin' dirtier & nastier. Now, I exclusively smoke the "Mild'nWild Backwoods" Seriously, I love em. You can keep them in your jacket/ fly box/ DB and they'll always (somewhat) be 'kind-of' fresh! They burn evenly, taste like the great outdoors (poop?) stay lit even when you're floating down the Trask in a hard January rain, heavy winds, with 34 degree temps!
You may laugh but..."But he can't be a man cause he doesn't smoke, the same cigarettes as me..." M. Jagger
'Backwoods...mmmm That's my brand.'
