Hey All,
I am always surfing the web looking for fly caught fish. I love to visit the sights and check out the wonderful experiences others have on or in the water. I imagine lots of you do the same. I would love it if you guys would post some pics of days gone by.
I'll start with a few of my friends and I. Looking forward to some good shots.

Not the greatest pic (it was almost dark) but a nice Grande Ronde Steelie caught in 36 degree water, swinging a pink marabou on floating line

To attach an image you must first upload the pic somewhere then post the URL, bracketed by and . Your ISP will usually allow you a certain amount of webspace in which to post the pics.

>>>36 degree water, swinging a pink marabou on floating line<<<
You might want to add that you were sinking it with some lead or you might really confound some some people graemlins/idea.gif
Gotta wonder though, what's the COLDEST water temp anyone here has caught steelhead on standard patterns, unweighted on the floating line swing??? For me it was 47 degreesF on the Deschutes in December a few years ago and I would bet the water was even colder than that on the Salmon River in November when it used to be open. To be fair though, fish caught in both areas were in pretty shallow stuff and did not have to move far to take the fly.
I have four of those hats. You cannot find a better fly shop than River City Fly! I am going over there now, just to browse.............thanks for the idea.

C'mon Zaq, howabout a picture??? I know you're just itchin' to put one up.
After making fun of our plywood/styrofoam beast of a boat it's the least you could do.....
I'm tired of putting up my steelie pix so I dug this up. Alaska 96', on the Talachulitna River. What does a guide do on his day off??? FISH!!!
Silvers were getting color but they would take stripped-skated flies like there was no tomorrow.
The fly in question was a hot pink miscarriage I dubbed "The goobergobber", basically an over sized muddler with dyed pink elk hair. It was made fun of, maligned and scorned, but it outfished all others. We counted how many fish this fly took before it fell apart, 122 silvers in 3 days, all on top. Remember, this is Alaska and that fly was passed around between 6 other guides so it was always getting fished. I also tied it with Kevlar thread for durability.

One of many colorful silvers, released of course!!! For those of you who know me that's a rare shot of me with a beard, don't get to do that too often!!! However, Buzz wanted his #$%@ hat back after that.....

Here's a couple of rainbows. They were taken on a couple of the several float trips I've taken in Alaska. (Every fly fisherman needs to treat himself to one)
The first fish is an average rainbow from the Alagnak River. http://www.ifish.net/uploads/51331718.jpg
The second is a fish from the Copper River. We caught rainbows up to 16 pounds on this river http://www.ifish.net/uploads/26351718.jpg

Nice harvest trout. Let's see, gotta be Cortland line, got a few of those myself but your rod/reel flummox me. Too many grey or blackish blanks out there these days, must be one of those custom jobbies you get.
This is fun, start a thread of anything BUT steelhead pix. God love steelhead, they are my #1 pick but what else do we catch?? Hmmmmm, the possiblities are endless....Anybody???

To answer somebody's earlier question I have got them on the Clearwater in Idaho down to bout 45-46 and the ronde on a skater in 43-44 degree water. Once the water get below about 48 though it can get real tough.

I'll add to that, it is much more difficult to bring them to the surface below 48. I have fished the GR with sucess with a floater in 42 degree water. If it gets colder than that you gotta swing lower.
Combing the surface for SH seems to be river specific. Some seem to swing fine at colder temps, others, forget about it.
