Hey all, this is Snap-T, I used my father's login....my computer is down. Sorry.

Has anyone out there fished Florida for Tarpon? I have fished for bones in Christmas Island and know from that experience that you definitely need a guide. I was wondering if there are a few of you out there that has a guide recomendation. I will be there in May and July. This is prime time tarpon season I hear.
I want to make sure the guide knows his game. There are a number of half rate guides I imagine, I don't want one of those guys.
Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks,
Snap-T

Yes, I have fished Tarpon but not in FL. I do have sporting good shop owners and captain/guide freinds in FL that fish for tarpon and would gladly send a name or two to you if I knew what area you want to fish in in FL Tarpon are a exciting fish to handle on a fly rod, kind of like a mix of a fall salmon and a summer steelhead except you sight fish for them and watch them take it...WOW!

E-mail me privately and I will give you a contact in Florida (salt water writer) who can give you the names of good guides.

After having fought big tarpon on a fly rod for over an hour, I would suggest targeting the babies (10-30lb). They are a lot less work and much more fun.

Hey Pop,

How is Damon doing? I hope things are looking up for him, Tammy and the family. Has rod given you a current update?

You are more than welcome to meet me in Florida. I would love it. You could barrow one of my friends 12 wts.

No fish on the Rogue, I did fish the S Umpqua for about 30 min the other day between calls.
No fish. The coast down here should be getting better soon. See you when it gets hot.

Snap-T,

I have the name of a guide that is quite good. He came recommended to me from a guy who's advice and tips are like gold. My buddy tells me that this guide has no need for advertising or the like. He does great by word of mouth and repeat customers. He also has all the equipment you might need. That would be good if your Dad shows up. Email me and I will give you his name and number.

Thanks for the info Mark. I have already booked a guide for the trip. I think that I am in good hands. Sounds like the guy I am with is in the same league.
