evinrude 9.9

I have an 1964 evinrude 9.9 that runs like a champ, problem is it eats the pull ropes like candy. fixed that problem and when I was putting a new rope on the spring broke in the re-winder. any way to fix this or do I need to find a new one. p.m's welcome. thanks bassmann :cheers:

There is a big marine salvage yard in the metro area that should have a used one. I think a new part is also available somewhere.
