My 1989 3.0 I/O OMC is giving me problems. I took it out crabbing with the kids sat. Seemed to be runnung good for about a half an hour. Then it starts to hesitate. I notice its running rich. It dies, but will restart and continues to run rough. Eventually it wont shift without dying. I fire up the T8 kicker and start to head in. My buddy gets the main motor going and he doesn't let off until we get back to the marina. Back at the marina I switchback over to the kicker. It also seems to be hesitating. My guess is bad fuel. I took the fuel seperator off and dumped the fuel to check for water. None. I have the kicker and main plumbed off the seperator without check valves. Wouldn't it have started acting up fairly quickly if it was a plumbing issue?I'm going to install valves just to be on the safe side. It was knocking pretty good also. I always add stabilizer. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I had that vary thing happen in Tillamook Bay.
Turned out it was water, in the bowls. Time to
do a tune up on the carbs and new plugs.

Water in the bowls? How would he address that? Pull off the carb and take apart?
