Anybody ever fish here? I'm looking for places to head for spring break, seems like a nice place to pitch a tent for a few days.

We stayed there a couple years ago. Nice lake very pretty and wooded. We stayed in july, caught a few bass and a bunch of crappie and perch. The campground we stayed in was nice but not on the water it was across the street and we had to walk or drive to the lake, we liked it but not near as much as tenmile so we will probably not go back to camp, maybe to fish though.

LL, you didn't stay at the CG on the Lake? You do know there is one right on the lake..right??
Mark, This is one of my favorite lakes....just because of the camping.
Our family loves this lake....and so do I. I can fish all morning and be back just as there getting up and getting breakfast ready. I've fished for 4-5hrs before they've even thought about the day. We go mess around at the beach and then I still have the evening fish to look forward to.
Fishing for me there is tough, but I'm getting better. But a lot of that is my inexperience w/ LM.

Is camping restricted to just the one campground on the lake? Or can you adventure a little bit and find your own spot? Thats kinda what I like to do...
As far as fishing go's, I don't expect much this early in the year anyway, just something to do while enjoying the place.

This is probably my favorite coastal lake because it has lots of personality and is small enough to not get quite as nasty as Tenmile or Siltcoos. It does have a good population of bass, perch, bluegill, catfish, crappie, and trout. It can be quite productive. Good Luck!

Comparing Tenmile to Siltcoos is like comparing Siltcoos to Clear Lake! There is no comparison as to how rough these two lakes get! Tenmile has wind, but the swells are nothing compared to Siltcoos!
Fog is the big problem with Tahkenitch, it can come in so fast that if you do not have a compass you may not find the ramp!

Mark,
IMO camping is restricted to the CG.
Yes, there is some access to unimproved spots around the south side of the lake, but it is all owned by Timber Co. and camping seems to be discouraged. And I'm not sure I blame them.

As hunt and fish said, A good portion of the lakes shore is private. Most the timber land is rosboro and that means no camping at all and access by written permission ONLY. The area is patrolled and they dont like trespassers. The campground on the lake is nice. My favirite sites are 16-18. 17 has a nice elevated view of the lake. Tahk is in my favorite 3 for sure.
