You gotta give us more info. What kind of boat? What kind of motor? What kind of bracket (brand name)?

Just got the same bracket installed yesterday on my 18' Starcraft. I had a OMC that wasn't going to do the job on my new 8hp 4-stroke Mercury.
The holes lined up pretty close, so I only had to reem 1 hole to get it mounted. The vertical rise was 1" less then the OMC, but with the bracket and 4-stroke motor being heavier, I don't think there will be a problem. Especially at the slow trolling speed. Still plenty of motor in water for cooling.
I used 3M 4000 adhesive sealant around drilled holes to keep water out. It's one of the few 3M products that is approved for metal, and for above or below water line. Be sure to use gloves so you don't get it all over yourself. I cleaned up the miscues with paint thinner.
The only problem I had with the bracket is it is rated for 169 lbs and my motor is only 102 lbs. That's a good thing for raising it, but getting it to go down is a hard push. I loosen all the body bolts about 1/2 turn and now it has some movement. I can tighten as it gets more use.
Hope this helps. If you have any specific question, shoot me a PM and we'll get it mounted.
