Anyone here ever put a Smooth move seat on a sled? I've got the Koffler seat boxes and wanted to find a smoother riding seat for the wife and small children?

Any experiences with Smooth Move?

No experience with those seats. However, lots of experience with the hydraulic seats in North Rivers - the "mariner" seats I think they are called. Great ride / spine saver in the ocean. These are the heavy duty seats, not the standard post ones.

Here's a little gold nugget that I've gained the hard way, once again. When you are bouncing hard there is a tendency to want to hold onto the seat to keep from bouncing up/out. Beware. I got a finger trapped in a seam just underneath the seat that flexed open momentarily. Man did that hurt like crazy. Crushed flat and split open.

Evaluate seats and installations with that in mind.

When you mentioned wife and kids I just had to comment.

I just ordered seat boxes from Koffler too. From the looks of the smoothmoves web site I'm not to sure they would work with seat boxes. :twocents:

I had the Smooth moves on a 20' Thuinderjet. They fit over the standard Pedistal mounts. Im pretty sure you could bolt them to the top of your lids for your box seats.

They are an improvement over standard seats. But Ive since further upgraded to the Mariner Suspension seats. If you have the additional money, Id go with the Mariners. There is NO COMPARISON. The Mariners are definately top shelf.

You could probrably sell your box seats to offset some of the cost. Where with the Smooth moves you just get the base.

Basically all the Smooth moves is, Is a Agriculture Tractor/excavator suspension seat slightly modified by the guy at Smooth Moves. I think he uses a slightly heavier spring to get more dempening vs the Agriculture version. Norther Tool has the ag version for about $100 each.... About 1/3 the cost of the smooth moves..

I got the Glyde Rides. Was looking for Mariners but didn't want to drop that kind of cash. Olybirds was the one who recommended suspension seats to me.

Wow what a difference. The Glyde Rides are probably mid way between the Smooth Move and the Mariners.

Thanks

heres a picture on my Thunderjet.
I had to cut the length of my stock pedistal to offset the increased ride hieght of the Smooth Moves base.

i assume that NR uses the same standard Springfield pedistal..

I have never liked the look of the Mariner seat but I was recently on a Moose Catamaran that had the Mariner seats with a Ballistic nylon covering instead of the vinyl and they looked really sharp. It may be something to look into if you don't want the vinyl.

Hey STB,
IF circumstances arise that you might want to sell the seat boxes, I am needing two of them. You can always write me at dg3381@comcast.net
Thanks,
