Made 2 trips down the McKenzie, one on Friday, Again on Sunday... best fishing on the 'kenzie I've seen in... years? We caught and released well over 60 fish between the 3 of us. It appears the redsides are off the bite due to all the dam BS, we only picked up one. All the others were hatchery fish in the 8"-12" range with most being right at 10". Caught 4 holdovers that went close to 15". Too many smolt to bother trying to count. All in all, it was a fabulous weekend of fishing. They were hitting all kinds of standards but a dropper rig was the most productive. Stim up and prince down... personally, I had a gas fishing a straight McKenzie Special dead drifted while I rowed, mending all the way.
As an aside, the river has shallowed significantly right below Deerhorn Park... stay right for the first 200 yards!(CLANG!)
