I caught my first resident cutt on a fly tonight!
I DID IT!
I was always catching little ones, but I did it!
For the whole story, I wrote in on the front page.... TEE HEE!
It was a blast! So much more fun and twice the giggles than on terminal gear!

Well Done Jennie! And in that clear water too! I fished the lower stretch some last week and found many changes and graveling in of old holes! :rolleyes: Im sure your fish was grateful you caught it! Now use thos deeflies!

Good deal! Now you are an addict. My first fish on the fly was on the Wilson many years ago, $12 plastic Shakespear reel with a 4 piece fiber glass rod. I had no clue what I was doing, the fish was just there, dumb 15" searun cutt.
Now I own umpteen flyrods and do steelhead, salmon, trout and varied species in NE OR, even a clumsy carp or two(tough fish to hook on the fly!). Nothing like a big(or small) fish on a screaming single action reel when you think you have no control whatsoever.

My first fish on a fly rod was a cutthroat. Spent the whole summer chasing them on a little coastal creek like the Kilchis. Way to go!!! :tongue: :tongue: I caught one that summer that was 23 inches - It was one of the best fightrs ever. I now that his grandkids are still out there!
