The river is up at least a foot on the lower Deschutes. Crowds have increased and the larger fish are not as willing (for me, anyway) to rise to a Clark's Stone. I managed to find three this evening betwwen 8 and 9p.m. All were caught at the heads of two large back eddies, right where the two currents collide. None were over 13". Guides have reported tough fishing the past couple days.

Had a 12" rainbow take a dry salmonfly and that was it. Had five more on BH Princes, BH Falshbacks and BH Pheasanttails. Four out of these five were redsides running up to 16". Lots of salmonflies on the water. Just not alot of rising takers. Had to down after them today.

I should add that I was at Warm Springs.
Wow, from 5400 to 6900 cfs at Moody in just 5 days. I'd say someone's messin' wid da fishin'! :hoboy:

I will be floating Trout Creek to Maupin this week, hope the water level is stable.
Any suggestions on dry fly patterns?
Thanks
Stone fly patterns: Pillow Sofa / Clark's Stone / Muddler dries
Caddis patterns: Elk Hair (assorted sizes and colors)
Mayflies: Sulphers, Adams
The only real question is whether you can find a fish hungry enough to take a fly.
Most folks are fishing nymphs through the day ... dredged deep.

similar report here. Fished between Maupin to Beavertail mostly midDay from ~11am to 7pm. Very little top action. Can count on one hand the number of rises to the top, and my buddy only got one on top. We got a handful of redsides on nymphs - the usual's as noted above. Water is very colored below White River as the White was pouring Chocolate Latte into the Big D.
Was there Sunday -- Water HIGH :depressed: -- action slow -- fished above dutchmans flat..

Fished it Sunday and MOnday and the action was HOT for me, the 3 other gentlemen in my party did not fair well. I caught multiple rainbows the smallest being 12 inches the largest 19. Caught a 7 lb white fish to boot!
