I Merc 15HP, 2 stroke, outboard, 2000 model.

The motor starts fine, but when I go into throttle, the motor wants to die. It's okay at half throttle, but once I hit full throttle, it dies.

Any hints or clues on what I can do myself? Was planning to take some co workers out tomorrow, but if I can't get the kicker going, the gig is up.

The motor has been stored inside and not used for 6 months. The gas could be questionable.

Deja!

2 strokes difinatley like a fresh mix on the gas..check you plug too!! i would just put a new one in and keep the old one as a spare in the boat. check gas lines for cracks while your at it.

Tanks, I will use some fresh gasoline and poor some sea foam in it. I just tried some carb cleaner, which helped a little bit. I will try new plugs for sure.

Start with disassembly and thorough cleaning of the carb

Is that something easy to do, that I can get done in a few hours. I think i have a manual for the motor.

You need to get started before you can finish ...:D
Clean the carb and mix up some fresh fuel with some startron or stabil in it ...
Sounds like some gunk in your high speed jet ...:twocents:

LOL fishkisser.
I just got a new tank with new fuel. And put Seam Foam in it, will that do?
I plan to clean the carb tonight, got my manual, got some cleaning stuffs. Just hope the manual tells me how to take a part the Carb and put it back in one piece with no extra parts : o
