Wife and I are off to Kahneeta for a few days of relaxation and I'm sure to pack a 4-wgt. I've only detoured through the rez and remember looking longingly at Beaver Crk., Quartz Creek and the Warm Springs River. I can't find any info on fishing availability on the Warm Springs, Kahneeta or ODFW web sites. If unaccomapnied fishing allowed or is it tribe-guided only. I have a Warm Springs Annual Lisence I just got for a trip to Billy Chinook. If I can fish, are they there to catch. Has anyone fished these creeks?

As I recall, the Warm Springs River is considered sacred waters and closed to all fishing.

I caught trout and whitefish right there by the lodge in the Warm Springs River. Many many moons ago. Tribal permit required, sounds like you're covered there. Ask at the lodge.

There used to be fishing allowed on the W.S. River along the golf course, on a designated stretch. The lodge should have maps of all open waters on the Res.

Dry Creek campground near Warm Springs in another great Deschuttes access point. You can walk down river for miles and get into a variety of different water. They ought to be able to give you directions.

I got the skinny. The warms springs and tribs are closed but may open next year. They've not allowed fishing since 1997 or so. Standing on the upper bridge at the golf course, I saw 8-10 rainbows snuggled along the edge of current, all 15-25 inches. I nearly went crazy, I'm definitley going to keep posted on plans to open the river.
