I just started fly tying about a month ago and i'm getting really into it. These are some of my salmon and steelhead flies. What do you think.
Any suggestions for any tougher patterns appreciated.
Thanks:)

Tougher patterns? Feather wing jock scott. Also, try tying an intruder.

You stuff looks good. I'd go easy on the flashabou, but pink is definitely a great color!

Those look a heck of a lot better than my early patterns. A few of them look like the head of the fly was a bit crowded but dang, those are great first ties.

Steelhead don't need fancy flies to get caught but if you want to have some frustrating fun,try dries(skaters), especially ones that require bunching up deer/elk hair for heads or bodies. :)

Thanks Vosso and Mad Mikey.:)
I'll try those and get back to you.

Mad Mikey I've done Muddler minnows and they look pretty good.

I'd go easy on the flashabou

The only fly with Flashabou is a Flash fly, without the flashabou it would just be a pink collar...

For more patterns check out fly tying forum The amount of material there will keep you busy for 3 lifetimes.

Very nice flies! Only in the past 4 years did I get into the steelhead/salmon flies, having been a "trout tier" for many years. This web page is a great resource and many include a picture. Don't forget that once they enter the water they are going to lay down against the hook, so more, often times can be better.

This pattern does very well here near the coast but Fishkisser and I usually make them much fatter and add flashabou!
