I purchased a typical "river anchor" and have a question. I think I remember that the anchor chain is attached to the bottom (heavy) part of the anchor (eye welded to bottom of anchor), and a tie-wrap is used to hook the chain to the "stem" of the anchor? Is this correct or do I have it backwards? Just want to make sure I can retrieve this bugger if it gets stuck on the bottom!

I can send a picture if required but hopefully this is somewhat clear!
thanks,

Sounds like you got it right to me. I leave a little slack between the two eyes so that the top will have no problem breaking away when I need it to.

That's the way mine is as well. You want the pulling power to be transferred to the bottom of the anchor when you get stuck. This will essentially pull the anchor "out" of whatever you got "into".

You have it correct. Make sure, depending on the size of your boat and anchor that you use a heavy enough zip tie. I use two heavies on mine.
