I think the water is still too cold, but there are 3,500 trout in there. It was stocked twice already this year. I am going to take my float tube up to Lost Lake(Clatsop County) tommorow morning. Just wondering if anybody has been up there lately and what hatches are going on? I imagine that there will be some small midges hatching when it warms up enough. Well, I will give it a shot.

Here is my report. Lots of fish to be caught, even steelhead. Saw two nice steelhead caught. Both with flies. One was about 8lbs and the other 10lbs +. I didn't stay for long, but caught and released 7 or 8 nice trout. The ones I caught were very stout fish. All in the 11-15inch range. Try a queasant tail or a san juan worm in tan. Might even try trolling a nightcrawler. They really smacked the worms. Good luck you all. There are still a quit a few steelhead in there. Saw at least three others swimming around in there. Tightlines

After your posts I had to do some asking around to find the lake. I got off work at 2 and headed up. It was cold but everyone was catching fish. In about 3 hours I landed almost a dozen.

I was up there yesterday. Went out in my float tube for an hour or so. Landed around 20 and lost a dozen. Lots of fun just catch and releasing.

The Lost Lake we are all chatting about is outside of Elsie off the Nehalem, correct? Sounds great, I may sneak out mid-week.

PittsburghD-
You got it right. It is outside of elsie. They don't call it lost lake for nothing. There are no roads labeled at all coming from either side. Have fun.

Was up there today, took my 2 year old daughter. Had a great time. The first fish I hooked into was one of those big brood trout/steelhead. Funniest thing, I was fishing with an ultra light setup. The thing just sat there, felt like a snag except that it moved every once in a while. Had to break the line off. Hooked into them twice. Did really good with the trout also. I can't believe the fight these buggers have in them. Lots of fun.
