I just received 2 of the adventure 5 reels from Loomis a couple days ago. I put them on a pair of 1085s from LRods. Wow these reels rock. The drags are smooth as butter. For trout reels they may be a little overkill, but they sure are pretty.

Catch 22: Isn't there only three reels in the adventure series with the five being in the middle?

Have you ever fished with a redington fly reel. They are very smooth and have a very durable drag. Most of the time you don't even need a drag, but when you are trout fishing and hook into a steelhead, then you will be glad you have a quality reel. G-Loomis rods are great, but I think their reels are overpriced. Check out redington reels. I have a 3/4 weight redington on a 4 weight GL3 Loomis rod. Love the combination.

Actually yes. I do have a Redington AL 7/8. At $195.00, It's twice as much as the Loomis adventure though. It does have a much smoother drag. I haven't seen many reels that can compare with the Redington at that price range. For a steelhead reel the drag is imperative. For a 5 weight trout reel, I think the Loomis is above standard and gives people alot of reel for the dollar.

Talking about fly reels Iv'e got a marryat, its a MR8.5A thats a great reel, with a super drag. I have no ideal what the price is. My wife bought it for a fathers day gift, but I do love the reel. If any body knows what they run I would appreciate it.
