Wow, Looks like a cutthroat. Imagine up that far. Do they stock the Mckenzie with cut throat?

Not a cutthroat my friend! That is a redside if ever there was one.
Nice fish. Were you fishing deep or on the surface? Been thinking
about doing the same thing, Buddy. Great picture!!

I was down there last weekend and the water looked high and off so I didn't wet a line.... Kinda wishin I would have now:whistle: What float did you run and was there much of a hatch or was it all a wet game?

The Deerhorn to Hendricks section is pretty hot right now. Lots of bugs and plenty of fish. Go get 'em!

Anyone fish the Mckenzie today, or planning on doing it on Friday? I was thinking about a float on Saturday with my Dad. I haven't fished down there since college and don't remember what the optimal river level is. Any advice or reports would be great!
Thanks and happy fishing.

I love that section!!! I floated it several weeks ago and did really well. There should be some March Browns out around now...of course, we all know what nymphs work really well there...

Never made it out today...fishing partner backed out. I am hoping to get down there next weekend or the weekend after. If anyone goes, please post a report.
Too much teaching and not enough fishing is driving me insane.

Hey there, sorry it took so long to get back to all the questions. I have been working deep in the woods and have had no time to check in... (or go fishing for that matter). So, I caught that fish and several others on a large stonefly nymph trailed by a pheasant tail. All but one fish hit the big nymph. Anyway the river is up from where it was a couple weeks ago and I have'nt heard how it is fishing lately. Back then I was fishing the hayden bridge drift but if I had to bet I would think that the deerhorn area would be better at this point.
