It sounds like maybe you think the floats on your traps couldn't handle the current(?) Or maybe the ropes were cut(?) I'd hate to think that there are some crabbers that would sink to the level of ripping off others property. While I've heard of such behavior...it's not happended to me yet. I'll keep an eye out for them. Any particular section of the bay where they were last seen? I wish you luck. :smallcraft:

Check up under the bridge on the north side. Thats where alot of them end up after floating out with the tide.
I have found mine and others there in the past. I think most traps that turn up missing have just floated away.
I still have some faith in fellow crabbers!

Thanks for the feedback. I will check the other side of the bridge next time I'm out. I set'em just off the research vessel...tide may have taken them.

I'm keeping faith that it was my own error and not the action of some theif...most of the people I've fished with have good intentions and I'd like to be proven right.

If the traps get swept away with a strong tide and then rest in the channel the Coast Guard or Sheriff will pick them up, too. You may want to check with them. The wire pots can go a long way on a good tide run.
