Caught this last Saturday, 1 of about 10 landed. bugs that worked for us on this day included the Rainbow Warrior, quill nymph (black), fished under a san juan. typical bugs that work all year also include sow bugs, orange scuds, and just about any color midge. My dad visited over the holidays and I was able to take him on the first and the Browns were still staging, and he had the time of his life. Both of us lost count of how many fish were caught.
Definately a place one should check out if out this way.
Typical gear includes 5-6 weight rods. fly line to leader with a strike indicator/bobber, with tippet blood knotted to the leader were your first bug or san juan is tied, then your dropper bug. Sometimes a split shot or two just above the blood knot. I'd love to try this on the D some time when I'm back around that area.
On a side note. I picked up a TFO Jim Teeney 6 weight and love it. Better yet, it was marked 150.00 when i purchased it. I would recommend this rod to to anybody.

Nice fish! I fished the Bighorn last spring and had a blast! We caught big browns and rainbows all day long!
Here's one I caught this morning on the E. Gallatin:

Great fish! I had an epic evening on the Bighorn in Wyoming...Thermopolis...nearly 20 years ago. There was a moth...miller moth...explosion. I tied up a few really crazy looking stonefly kind of flies at the picnic table, went down to the water and had a blast. The Bighorn is a great river with so many miles of great water. I need to go back someday!

I love Thermop! The fish we caught there looked like footballs with their little tiny heads, I heard it's caused by the high mineral content in the water, leading up to very rich aquatic life.
Nice Mitch,
I havn't fished many of the rivers your way except when driving through. Stick to the Horn and the Still water and occasionaly the yellowstone since it does run through town.
