Does anyone have experience with the loomis 13'4" kispiox (dredger series). I want to line it with an Airflo Compact Skagit and am thinking 480 or 510 grains. Is this a good starting point? Or is this heavy being it seems pretty soft for the 7/8 rating.

Thanks

I have the 7/8 Dredger GLX and am using the 450 gr Skagit line. I have no problem with that line. However, if you are going to cast some heavy winter flies a 500 gr line might be better.

Are you planning on using any tips like T-14?

Yes. I am planning on using tips from T-8 to T-14, probably between 7 and 12 feet.
Might try fast sinking poly-leaders as well that weigh between 80-115 grains.

I have this rod and fished a 510 on it and found it too much when trying to turn over 10' of t14. I think 420-450 would be fine. When I get back I will try mine out for you if you like. I seem to be building quite the collection of compacts these days.
