As far as I can tell, these are close to the original pattern that started the craze. Look out steelhead.

Very cool and informative as I found one of the pink versions of this fly on th Clack by Feltheimers this summer. Did you lose one there?

Nope. This is the first time I've tied this pattern.

those look great, what length waddingtons?

much like the deceiver for saltwater, this is a great style of fly that lends itself to individual experimentation. I tied up a bunch using the original recipe some years ago, but after fishing and more experimentation, have modified the pattern to my liking - to give it more "swim" in soft currents.

well done!

These are on 45mm wads. I haven't swam them yet myself, but I'm guessing they will have decent movement.

They look great. I've been using 35mm shanks on my recent flies, and they fish well. I'm sure your flies will catch fish. Good luck,
wayne

I use a very simular pattern for larger bass and trout. its all I fish any more. I have had alot of luck with pure chartruss.

Those will fish - I have some tied up in purple from years ago that I have never fished

I’m heading up to his neck of the woods in March. Like SSPey said, the pattern obviously lends itself well to personal modification. There are so many variations around. All of them are wonderful I’m sure and a credit to Ed’s creation. I like to honor the originators of famous flies by tying and using the original recipe; especially on the waters where they were developed or refined. I seen this pattern on another site tied by a very talented person who actually fished with Ed and used the original.

the original is tied on a single hook shank, with tippet strung through the fly, and attached to the stinger through junction tubing on shank end
