Thinking about heading up. Wondering what lb test to use while trolling rapalas. Im thinkig 8 ft rod med heavy with 10lb? input would be great. thanks

I would AT LEAST go with 12lb test as my leader line. Even up to 20lb test (that is what I mainly use). Most of us like to go with a braided mainline 20-25lb. test and tie an albright knot to the leader. This gives you a bit of a shock absorber, but shows the bite instantly.
Best of luck. Make sure you post back to let us know how you did!
Hope this helps.....
Go get 'em! :excited:

Correct......assuming you are trolling for the browns.

Steelhead to light salmon rod is what you want to use. And agree completely with coyote on the pound test. You get a brown over 5 lbs, especially a hookjaw, they have some gnarly teeth and will bite right through 10 lb test like nobody's business. I, and I'm sure I can speak for several others on this forum, have had experiences with a freight train just to have a 30 second to minute long fight end with a limp line. Reeling it in, you take a look at the damage done and it looks like 3 to 4 feet of your line got run through a meat grinder. These fish are beasts, especially the BIG ones. Felt like I was fight a steelhead on one of the larger trout I've caught. Great feeling....
