View Full Version : game violations: fishing with two poles

I have run into this guy at several locations, he is a hatchery truck chaser. In the past I have observed him take a limit of 5, and then return shortly for another. I've had enough, if I wasn't with a beautiful lady yesterday, well, you would be wringing your socks out.
I have told him in the past that using two poles was illegal. He reels one in, only to do it again and again.
I have run into him at his work, which is a real dump. :flowered:
Pole one is in his hand, the other is in his chair. I went up close to verify, and even spoke with him. I cant believe he doesnt recognize me.
You are now a known repetitive game violator.

I agree to turn him in.. some may think it's petty.. but think about if he takes out more fish then what he's suppose to all the time... he is taking away from people fishing legal and other younger kids chance to catch fish.

Took me a while too. Look in the chair, there is a rod sticking out of the right side. Guessing it's the second rod mentioned. Hard to tell though if it's just sitting there or actually fishing with it.

If you look close you can see the line exiting the left side of the chair. Yes, he is a slippery one, so I am building evidence for the habitual offense part, its not a simple mistake. He also likes to kill/waste lots of fish when they biting good, tossing them way out into the lake so he can continue fishing without having to leave. I have mentioned using a fly or lure to release fish, but he still uses bait, and rips the hook out of their gut, then gives em long toss where most folks wont notice them floating.

take the side cutters down there and snip about 18 inches off the second rod, see if he wants to make a deal of it

If there was another person in the chair, he deserves a ticket too, for leaving a rod unattended (that is, under WA regs.)

If what you say is true (i have no reason to doubt you), then this guy has little regard for game laws and needs to be brought to the laws attention ASAP.

I am without a cel phone. The pic shows everything about his Method of Operation. Supporting two pole use at this time, is still illegal. Its also dangerous for kids, hiding a secret line entering the water, and not telling folks to look out for it. I tripped over his secret line a while back, thats how I discovered what he is doing.

Hey dont jinx me, I sold the bike, but still need the truck! Can you believe of all the places, he had to land right behind me? I was sitting there doing paperwork, when I saw him parking so I stayed a minute. Same deal, told him not to use 2 poles several times previously.

I guess I don't understand why this is such a big deal, sure I think he should get fined. But I don't see the need to arrest someone for using two poles in a stocker pond. Just wondering why some of you feel so strongly about this? Maybe there is an angle I'm missing?

Maybe he came from another state and is used to 6 or 12 poles.
He may think two is barely fishing...lol
At least make a small dummy out of straw so it looks like your son is sitting there too.
Kinda like the one you use when you drive in the car pool lane.... lol.

Stands to reason that a person who will fish 2 rods in such a public (after being told many times it's illegal), Probably see's no point in abiding by other game laws i.e. fin clips, slot limits, hunting with artificial light, etc. etc.

Skunked, did you not just keep 3 clipped "Trout" recently while fly fishing a river? Please be careful. Enforcement is on the increase. Ignorance is no excuse to the law. Especially when you have the ifish experts at your fingertips. And again, everyone makes mistakes, but after you have been told, well its no mistake then.

FYI
Most game violators are habitual. They go right back to doing their thing, sometimes as soon as the Trooper drives away. Its only peer pressure that makes them leave for good.
Please do NOT cause harm to anyone, that could ruin all my fun real fast. BarrommHero was just kidding, he knows the law real good.
Get your local troopers cel number, they arrive quickly. Canby PD has met with OSP and they have an agreement to hold persons of interest until OSP can arrive.
Yes, it that serious. Do not mess around with game laws at the Canby Pond.

The second pic is a second habitual violator. He is 4 times the size of the first guy. The first pic was very fresh, the second is stale. The pond no longer has a cable, it has a brand new guard rail.

On Jan 1. 2009 the Canby Pond will be for the exclusive use of youth 17yrs and under, and holders of one of the Oregon disabled anglers licenses.
I guess I will have to make a name change to this place to reflect the new laws. :D

OK, I can see that argument, but should he be fined or thrown in jail? The way I see it a fine makes money for the state/odfw and jail time just costs money. Anybody know what the penalty is for fishing two poles by the way?

My apologies. Thanks for keeping your cool.
This isn't just a two pole thing, its habitual. And it ruins the fun atmosphere for everyone else, mostly kids. "Why cant I use tow poles like that guy?" :passout:
And as others have said, this is likely just the tip of the iceburg of their other infractions.

OK now your speaking my language, I think providing recreation for kids is really important and I hate when people complain about kids misbehaving but don't want to pay the tax dollars to give them something constructive to do.
I still don't think he should be thrown in jail but I understand your frustration, and I hope he gets a hefty fine. Good luck

People who fish with two rods are cut from a most unscrupulous moral cloth and must be stopped at all costs. I'm sure many of you who study history are all too aware that Sani Abacha began his crimes against humanity as a two pole trout fisherman. I don't think notifying OSP is enough. Whenever I witness a two pole trout fisherman disobeying the law I immediatley notify the UN, the FBI, The CIA, the DHS, ODOT and the PMS. These people must be stopped at all cost. :meme:

If you see game violations, please report them to the ODFW. Reporting them to Ifish doesn't do anyone any good. We all know it's illegal.
Thanks.
