I'm taking a couple of friends who have never fished before fishing tomorrow. One of them has been in a couple of nasty motorcycle wrecks and can't walk on uneven ground too well so my choices are limited.
Does anyone happen to know when the Junction City pond was last stocked? Last weeks fishing report in the newspaper said that the JC pond has surplus steelhead but they didn't say when it was stocked.

Look at the trout stocking schedule, usualy they put in brook trout first then the surplus steelhead. I know they use to get fish from the aslea fish hatchery, i cant imagine they have a surplus yet though. Check out the odfw website for further information.

Steel was put in a couple of weeks ago, maybe more. Try a gob of eggs under a float.

I checked the schedule and it's scheduled for 12/15. I think I will try the gob of eggs under the bobber. My other choices are either Horton Pond, Dorena Res., Cottage Grove L. I think I will go with JC pond. We can fish there for a few hours and if there's no action then off to Horton we will go. Thanks for the reply's guys.

I always did well with a garlic marshmallow and a worm off the bottom.

I called ODFW on Friday 11/21, and they said they'd be dropping off 25 steelhead by noon. As today is the 24th, I assume the fish are swimming, and just about acclimated enough to bite.

I went with my family last weekend, on Saturday 11/15, and we had good luck. We had a first-timer with us and he caught a nine incher, I caught one a little bigger, and my son caught four between 10-12 inches.

:meme:For some reason, many people who were catching fish were very generous and giving them to us. We went home with 17, about twelve of which were right at twelve inches. Great fish!

Thanks to the folks who gave us their fish. Our first-timer's family was very happy when he brought home a bunch of fish for his grandma's birthday party on Sunday.

I use to fish dorena infront of the damn in the winter and did pretty good, with good size trout. That may be hard for your friend to get down there though. Junction city pond is flat all the way around and has a Dock to fish off of.

Just got home from Jc pond. We didn't catch anything but we saw four caught on jigs under a bobber. We had a little bit of excitement about an hour before we left. My friend Celia saw a small fish jumping near the bank so she casted where it was and out of no where a steelhead came up and it looked like it grabbed the little fish then the steelhead jumped three times right in front of us teasing us before it disappeared. All in all we had fun.
