My buddy is building a swim deck for my sled. Could you guy's who have swim deck's on your boats let me know how deep they are. I was going to make it extend out the back fifteen inches, but my friend thinks it should go longer. Just looking for an average. Thanks.

I think it depends alot on your boat size and what your going to use the swim deck for, One thought is how are you going to get on it, on my 24' it was 4" or so off the water line and on the 28' it was about 6" off the water line. Both were about 18" wide, both boats were inboards. One more thought is a hand rail to hold onto while on the swim deck. Caution on the width and mounting, Rough water can give a swim deck a beating.

Heres a pic of mine ... make it at least big enough for a mid range cooler ...

Thanks guy's, it won't be large enough for a cooler since it's going on a 16' sled with an outboard jet. My main use for it is going to be a platform for the dog, with a ramp attatched to it.

I just had these put on the back of a Mid jet...Outback, Custom:

The goal was to have them long enough to provide some protection to the pump...that's how we decided how big to make these!

I am away from a tape, but those swim steps are on a 14' sled...with the 2 extra feet of Outback, making it roughly a 16' sled.

That looks great Troy. How thick is the diamond plate you used on the swim step?

Diamond plate is 1/8th inch...same that I used on the floors.
