as long as you are renevating your electronics you may as well go whole hog.
There is also the capability to recharge your boat batteries from your tow vehicle with the excess juice your alternator makes.
Now that could be a wireing nightmare but it would be a simple plug-n-go once it was installed.

Well I just want my trolling moor batteries to get charged when i am out on the water, but dont want to have to spend a bunch of money. I have a solar power charger that charges at 2 watts but is not enough.

Sorry to say it will cost you some dough ... But will sure make life a lot easier for ya ...
Assuming 12V trolling motor - Get one of these - http://bluesea.com/files/resources/sales_sheets/120A_SI_ACR.pdf (Blue Seas 7610, about $80 shipped), and a couple generic 100 A fusible links from the auo parts store.
At the bottom of the brochure is a typical installation diagram. Your tolling battery(s) will be the "house" battery. All you need to do is:
1) Make sure all batteries share a ground with your big outboard. If the trolling battery(s) are just sitting in the boat connected to the trolling motor only, then run a big ground from the outboard battery to the trolling battery (like a 6 AWG cable from the auto parts store).
2) From the + of the outboard battery, run a 6 AWG to the left terminal of the ACR. Put a fusible link in on the battery side and insulate with tape or other covering.
3) From the right terminal of the ACR, run a 6 AWG to the + of your trolling motor battery. Put a fusible link in on the battery side and insulate with tape of other covering.
That's it, trolling battery will charge when outboard is charging, but will not be drained by anything hooked to the outboard battery.
