Haha I got to thinking one day while at a hatchery feeding steelhead
and trout... all those hatchery fish are raised on that pellet food that
comes out of those dispencers....

So i put in a couple bucks and brought home some with me...
I ground up the pellet fish food and added a little water and a little oil
and a little anise oil.... Then I proceeded to fish East Lake. Lets just say I was the only person on the boat catching almost all the fish. :D

P.S. - I've also tied little "spawn sacks" with 3-4 pellets in them for steelhead!!! They work..

Thanks for the tip. I've always wondered if that would work. I wonder if I could buy that stuff in bulk?

A thought I just had is the koi pellets I buy at Petco for my pond fish. It's called Kaytee Koi's Choice and comes in a 3# bag. Less expensive than the other pond foods. I think it is similar to the trout pellets. You could check it out and see what you think. :)

I sent my son some steelhead gear and in it was a bottle of 'corn' scent. He used it on a Rock Dancer under a bobber on the Walla Walla river and caught a steelhead. I know rainbows in the Columbia Basin low lakes like corn so why not steelhead?

My buddy is part owner of the company that developed the Fish Tickle scent despensing system you see in the stores. They have a hatchery chow tablet for their system that they have developed. You should check it out, pretty neat stuff....................

Well I just experimented with it..
I took a half empty bottle of Anise scent and put a dozen or so of the pellets crushed up in there and they desolved into it.
I also tried some other various ways to make it with oils and what not.
Trout really love it!!
I'm going to wrap some up in spawn sacks for steelhead this year.
