I'm thinking about giving Miller one last try this weekend. Does anyone know if the road in is still passable? ( Toyota 1-ton PU, 2WD )

Thanks in advance.

Call the Chemult FS Ranger Station. They are located at the Hwy 97 intersection of the road to Miller Lake. 541-365-4409

Miller Lake is at 5633 feet. The closest sno-tel site I have found is at Summit Lake above Crescent Lake at 5600. It shows 11.5 inches of snow. I might go in a few weeks if the snow total is under 3ft. Good Luck

If you do go, make sure you tell several people where you're going. You don't want to get stuck up there, as I know someone who did....:wink: And, no, it wasn't me!

Good luck if you make it up there!

KK:
Here is a link to the Winema National Forest for the Digit Point Campground at Miller Lake. Scroll down until you locate Digit Point and it will answer most of your questions:http://www.forestcamping.com/dow/pacficnw/wincmp.htm#digit%20point
Take seriously the information about mosquito's. While they indicate the road is "washboard surface" what they really mean is "WASHBOARD SURFACE". If you take it easy on the road, the trip is well worth it. I have never seen the campground at more than 60% of capacity. It would be well worth your time to plan a trip for next year.

You can pull the boat right up to the bank below the camp ground. We have never had a problem with theft there.

The road to the lake is ROUGH!!!! Wash boarded and dusty. Go slow if towing, haul butt if not. The road smooths out at about 40 MPH. Just get slowed up before some of the corners.:whistle:

You cannot launch at the campground, the boat ramp is on the other side of digit point....but I've seen people tie up their boats near their campsites at Miller.

Whether or not I'll get there depends on what I hear from the Chemult RS about the road conditions. ( Thanx 2 Camel for the info. )

"Mosquitos"

As big as hummingbirds!!! Well, not really, but the name of the lake should not be Miller Lake. It should be Mosquito Lake, and anyone that's been there between May through July (depending on the snowmelt rate) knows EXACTLY what I'm talking about.

:yeahthat::yeahthat::yeahthat::yeahthat:

The first time I went there I couldn't even breathe with my mouth open :passout:

I drove up the road a mile before I put more than just the safety chain on my boat :bigshock:

The "little" :thisbig: suckers were chasing us the whole way, bouncing off the glass trying to get at us!!

Not so bad out on the water, but once you hit the boat ramp........Look out :bricks:
