WTB cheap laptop! [Archive]

All it needs to do is e mail and connect to the internet, wireless would be great.

Anyhow--
My Dad is stuck in a nursing home and I really think it would be fun to teach him how to use it and get him an e mail address.

I'm leaving on Tuesday, but... if you happen to have one and there is some way I could buy one before then for him, then it would be great!

Just dreaming. :)

How much are cheap laptops?

Can you think of any other way? A blackberry device would be too small and complicated, I think.

The new small laptops like the Asus Eee PC are affordable (300-500 bucks), portable and easy to use. I love mine!

Hey Jennie,

You might check Toys R Us as well, they've started carrying laptops. They're an ASUS brand and are suitable for checking email, and doing basic functions, I believe they're running $299.

We bought one at Best Buy yesterday for $299 for my mother in law. Seems to work great. We looked at some of the other ads that had them for $300-$375 and realized none of them had a CD drive. Seems like this one was the best in that price range.

dont forget to check Dell's website, their add came in the mail a few days ago and had small laptops in the same price range.

Oh and Circuit City, you can buy online and pick it up at the store!
