I was checking out the new Lamiglas sight and I noticed a new rod in their classic glass series that is designed for kokanee. The CG 70 DR is a 7' 4-10 rod with mod action. My daiwa spinmatics work great, but I'd love to give this glass one a try. And at a retail of $72, it's much more affordable than their FC 76 UL.
It looks like I'll be adding a new rod to my koke arsenal for next spring!

Was at the Delta Park Fisherman's location, they've got the spinmatics on clearance for $24- seems like a pretty good deal. The ultra light ugly stiks I bought last year seem just a bit stiff.
$72 for a fishing rod???? :passout:

That new Lamiglas sounds sweet. I checked out the FC76UL a few years back. Almost got one, but went with a Vance's spiral wrapped rod instead. The FC76UL just seemed like too much of a noodle rod, would have made me nervous lifting rod to get off of clip...sure would be fun with a fish on though!

I use the FC76UL for trout at hagg lake when I'm out in the kayak. I wouldn't be nervous about it, I think you could touch the tip to the butt and still have room to go. It's a noodle for sure but it's not fragile.

For $24 I might just pick up another spinmatic as a backup. But I did have a chance to fish a friend's FC76 and it was pretty sweet, just couldn't justify the price. And yes $72 is alot, but for the amount we go after kokes, if it increases the enjoyment AND the catch ratio, then it will be money well spent. Anyone know if any stores have the new class rod to play with?

$72 would be nothing for a salmon or steelhead rod...
I guess if your real into trout and koke fishing it's money well spent.
I would never spend over $50 for a trout rod...
But I'd spend way more then that for a salmon steelhead rod!! :D

Drift fishing for steelies? Yeah I'd probably sweat my way into spending a hundred bucks but I'd hate every second of it...
Salmon? All the salmon fishing I do is trolling or anchor fishing. No benefit at all from a premium rod there. I'm tighter than a clam in distress...no way I'd put any great amount of money into a premium salmon rod. I watch the sales at Fishermen's, the rod I really like is usually on sale for $44 a couple times a year (North River backbouncer), regular price is $89. I didn't lose a single fish in the fall, only one in the spring due to a nick in the line. Over 2 dozen to the boat. Can't blame any failures on the rod, that's for sure.
My absolute favorite koke rod was less than $20, a yellow fiberglass noodly Eagle Claw spinning rod. Every time I've spent more I've regretted it.
Electronics? There's a good place for that extra cash to go!

I will admit that my favorite Koke rod to date is the spinmatic. However I am always looking for the next greatest thing. There does seem to be some merit that a cheap "noodley" rod would work good for kokes. I just can't stop the buying when it comes to this stuff. Just printed off an order form from Ken's Custom Tackle. Need something to hang off that new rod.:D

Haha that was my dad's fav Trout/Koke trolling rod... Little yellow Ealge Claw. Flimsy as heck! I actually landed a steelhead on it once.

Speaking of Garage Sale Specials, Do any of you guys remember the "Pocket Fisherman" ? They were sold on TV back in the early 60s and I saw them adveritised on TV again a couple of weeks ago.
I still have mine in the BOX!!! :meme:

Well....we added to the arsenal tonight with one of those new-fangled Lami glass CG 70 DR rods. There were 4 of um at FM...now there's 3. $59.99 and it sez Kokanee Downrigger Rod right on the side....it's reel purty....and I bet it'll fish just right.
Nice feel versus the Shasta Glass rod I have been usin'. The wife, she still likes her Lami fibe-rah-glass noodle rod....you know...the yeller one.
Anyway, it's still tooooo early to try to find them slimey little devils just yet. But it's never too early to spend some hard earned money on fishin' stuff.
Hey Joe, I got me my new pancakes in.....thought you'd want to know.
Well, it's back to springers on thursday.
