I fished the west end of Hagg Lake this evening. It was a bit windy but the fishing was great. I got out there at about 5:30PM and had my five fish by 6:30. These were nice big fat trout. A couple 14 inchers. Yummmmmm.
There was some kind of hatch going on tonight. I don’t know what kind of bugs they were but the fish were gobbling them up like crazy. I saw several nice trout jump way out of the water just a few feet from the bank. And when I cleaned the fish I saw there bellies were packed with these bugs.
I used Power Bait three feet of the bottom using two pound test leader.

Wow, you caught 'em quick. :applause:
It was a bit slower for us in the a.m. Took us about 5 hours to get our 2 limits. And it was really windy in the morning too. Were you fishing from a boat or the bank? We were in a boat. We only caught 2 on powerbait. Ended up trolling for the rest. The bugs we were seeing were Mayflies. None of our trout had them inside; ours had periwinkles. We fished Saturday also and one of those fish had eaten a small perch.

Were you from the bank? I am land locked and might be interested in heading out to see what is out there. Thanks for the info. And good job on the fish!!!

Yep I was fishing from the bank. I would guess the water was only about ten feet deep or less. I have never fished the lake when it was so low.
If you are going to fish the west end, take a bucket or something to sit on because there is nothing but mud.
I fished just on the side of a shallow point that stuck out a bit.
Good luck.

I went back out this evening 10/29 and this time I took my dad. We started fishing at about 5:30PM. This was the best bite I have ever seen at the lake. I had a bite on every cast. I could not believe it. Either could my dad.
These fish were not as nice as the ones I caught on Sunday but they were still good. I put three in the bucket then started C&R from there hoping for some bigger ones. After releasing several I got a couple of fatties. We were out of there at 6:45 with ten nice fish.
The hot color was orange three feet of the bottom. The lake had dropped at least a foot since Sunday. And there was deer tracks on my tracks from Sunday.
