Puppy 8 MALE (Clark) (Blue with silver stripe Collar) @ 0730 born 8/22/08 head first: spot in center of back. 2 small spots center right. Spot right side Brown and white head.

48 hour observation: Puppy is feeding normally, making nursing and grunting sounds and Hiccupping. Pup moves freely about the whelping box looking for mom. Mom is displaying normal affection and cleanup duties.

8/25/08: wt 1lb 1.8oz, tail docked, and dew claws removed.

8/28/08: 1 wk old observation. Eyes still closed. Tail and dew claws healing normally with no indication of infection. Wt: 1 lb 9.5 oz. Pup is always on a nipple. Loves to be held and petted. Quiet pup.
Mom has started leaving litter at night to sleep in bed with us. Before pups she always slept at the ft of the bed with us. She is in good spirits and health. Eats like a pig. Growls at other dogs when approaching whelping box. Never heard her growl before. She watches us humans like a hawk when picking up pups.

9/1/08 Nails trimmed

9/4/08 Eyes opened

9/5/08 2 wk weight 2 lb 9 oz. Pup is getting full ticking all over body but heavy on legs. Pup is responding to sounds. Pup is standing and moving around on all 4 legs. Mom is doing good and feeds pups 5-6 times daily.

9/6/08: Stitches removed from tail, healing well. Being introduced to the outside grass area for an hour daily.

9/8/08: First signs of teeth coming in. Took outside for a while today. Slept on the lawn with no blanket.

9/9/08: Moved the litter out to the garage, they are adapting very well, and seem to explore more.

9/11/08: Mother started slowly weaning, so we introduced warm milk and wet dog food.
9/11/08: Wt: 3lb 10.5oz, nails trimmed


9/15/08 De-wormed with tasty paste. Tails are waggling and they recognize the call to the feeding bowl.

9/25/08: Nails trimmed

9/26/08: Wt 6 lbs. Wormed

9/29/08: Puppy received full bath

10/3/08: 1st puppy shot administered. Canine distemper 6 way

10/5/08: Started disciplining pup for nipping and scratching at face.


The only thing you have to fear about this breed is the look you'll get after missing an easy shot.
