View Full Version : Fern ridge update
I have been catching a few decent bass for the past couple of weeks, but nothing to write home about. 2 to 3 lbs is about the normal size. I have been going back and forth between no fish or 1 fish per 1 1/2 hr outings in the evenings after work. I weighed 1 fish last nite that was 2-14; same spot, same lure. I have been trying different lures but not a lot of luck. Caught a couple of fish on a spinnerbait but doing the best with the old senko routine! Today the spillgates are opened for the annual fall drawdown; in about two weeks you will be unable to launch a boat anywhere but at the dam. Dropping water levels should put the bass bite into high gear. Hope you other guys are doing better than me!

When the water draws out of the back areas on west 11th the second bridge was on fire . I remember growing up in Eugene and we would go there after football practice every year we would killem. Crappy and bass galore. we would throw spinnerbaits and bump the bridge pilings, either that or we would use sluggos back in those days!
The spillway was a super good fishery 15 years ago, before they did construction on it and put that cove in there. The cutthroat ,crappie, and bass fishing was amazing. Seems the carp have overan that area now.havent been back in years but i sure do have fond memorys of that lake.
Went out friday Oct 10, got two about 3lbs and weighed a 4 lb 0 oz. Sat produced a 3lb 3oz and sunday 5 fish largest 2 were about 2lbs each; lost a couple others. Still using the old standby!
Caught 7 last nite (10/22) from 5pm to dusk; Largest were 4 and 3 1/2 pounds. Not much water left in my spot! Fish are up shallow near any kind of cover and feeding voraciously! Should be a lot of fish collecting along the dam now and thru the winter.

Any idea of water temp? Probably around 50 degrees as of today. Last three fish caught on Sunday were 4lbs 3oz one about 2lbs and a little non-keeper around 9 inches; all caught on 5" purple senko in my regular spot. -Dan
