I just got back from Lewisville, Texas where I was representing one of two teams that the University of Oregon sent to the Collegiate Championship on Lake Lewisville. It was a great week of good people mixed in with a few nice fish. You can check it out at www.collegiatebasschampionship.com (http://www.collegiatebasschampionship.com) We finished the the 97 boat tournament in 28th place after having a strong second day on the the water. There were 51 different colleges/universities there, really awesome week. The University of Oregon has had a team for 3 years now you can check out there website at www.oregonbassteam.com (http://www.oregonbassteam.com)

Its a club sport and no you can't letter in it. Its a group of 15 good guys that are all out there to learn and catch some nice fish. Its been a really postive experience and the trips Ive taken it arkansas and texas have really opened up chances to fish some of the best water in the country

I have seen the Collegiate Bass Fishing on one of the obscure Fox Sports channels.... pretty cool deal and a great opportunity...

They did a little segment on the U of O team on one episode, and showed their travels to the tourney. Were you one of those two guys?

The Oregon Bass Team would probably dominate anyone in this state period when it comes to tournament fishing. If I were a betting man, I would take the young guys over any old **** fishing out of his homemade canoe any day. I've fished with them before and they absolutely dominate the local waters. I've seen some heavy sacks come in that would scare most people out of this sport. The problem with the collegiate bass championship is that they put it on a large shallow lake where most teams have local knowledge. For a west coast team with little time to prefish that lake is pretty impressive. Oregon bass clubs better watch out, these guys are for real.

Thanks for the heads up , and great work. Last year I saw some of the tourney on TV, and as I recall, an Oregon fisher was in the finals on a smallie lake in up state NY--at least the one I saw on TV. Being from NC, it alwas cracks me up that most folks don't trealize how good we have it here in Duckville/Huskie Town for H&F activities, and assume the SE US is best for everything..... The real "Sportsman's Paradise."
