Dirty rotten no good <people>, Took it all. 7 Rods with reels, and my tackle box.
Have had my boat at Kadows Marina off and on for years with no trouble. Saturday night at 12:23AM a drunk took em all. The reason i know the exact time. The Kadow's just installed security cameras all over down there, and i saw the whole thing. Here stumbles in a shaved head with baggy pants and a hoody at 12:02 and here he goes with all my stuff right past the cameras. Lamiglas backbouncer, and heavy bouncer, One berkely buzz ramsey, two sturgeon rods, a lamiglas westcoaster and a fenwick steelhead rod. My tackle box oh god my tackle box. Im gonna get a DVD today of this guy and i swear im going to get him before he can ruin anyone else. I do get to go shopping now!!!

HEY HEY HEY!!!! My complaining and persistance paind off. Last night around 5:00PM a drugged out career criminal from Vancouver tried to sell 5 of my rods and reels at a pawn shop here in town. I had made very good descriptions of all my gear and distributed them to the area pawn shops. Well this one my cousin happens to work at. I got a call from a deputy sherrif to come identify my gear, and yee ha it was mine for sure. The loser was taken into custody on unrelated warrants and because of my detail down to the color of tuffline on the poles, and bent handle on a 5501 Abu Garcia, they can make it stick. 2 hours later the officer went to the house of the guy and his Mom said oh yeah he came home with a tackle box that day too. MY TACKLE BOX, Once again my detail down to the custom made simons i let my neice do (very pretty but no fish) i have one of a kind stuff. Now im still missing two steelhead rods and a shimano reel. But yee ha for the good guys. The criminal will be charged with possesion of stolen property and attempted sale of that property. Im excited and cant wait to get back on the river.
Special Agent in charge of crooked no good fishin gear stealin losers Crouse out!

If you have the time it would be cool if you can follow it through the court process and let us know what he actually gets for this. It might not hurt to talk with the DA and let them know that you want to see the guy serve time and not just get off with a fine they will never collect. What about restitution for the rest of your missing stuff??? Press it for all you can and see where you end up. The guy probably doesen't own anything but if he does and you can attachet it you may get a nice check some day way out in the future.
GREAT JOB
To bad you didn't get it all
Hope he ends up in cell with some gigantic guy named bubba:meme:

Well, i got one more call today from VPD, and the last 2 rods and my loose shimano calcutta were sold to another pawn shop over the weekend. I went down (paid the pawn $70.00 ticket) for my own stuff (retail $700.00). Picked up my broken tipped lamiglas, fenwick etc.
I will be contacting the prosecuter to testify and make sure he has to make restitution (i'll never see it) or else go back for probation voilation. I will go to court and make sure he knows im the one that is helping put him in jail.
I dont know if i can get in trouble for posting his name address and criminal history but i can say that he is a twin from Vancouver and he and his brother are pro criminals. The Mom seems to be a nice person with a couple of idiots for kids.
This has been an eye opener for me. Definately want to give thanks to The pawn shop guys, Vancouver Police, and Clark County Sheriffs for loving to fish.
Retrieved 7 rods 8 reels and a lifetime of stories in a little box named plano.

Im pretty sure you can post any information that is considered public info which includes arrest records and names because the news does it all the time. If you are charged with a crime it is public information. Oh yah congradulations.

Got a call from our prosecuter here in Vancouver and he's been charged with possesion of stolen property and fencing of stolen property FELONY'S. His name is Stephen Pontious and wont be anything new for him to be in jail for like crimes.
He goes to court on the 10th of this month and i plan to be there.
Im having problems with posting the still photos of him with my stuff but im on it.

Whooo hooo!!! Way to go! So glad you got your treasures back.
The sad thing is jail l) doesn't do anything to change em; 2) they just hook up or learn new techniques (if you can call it that) from their fellow prisoners. The one thing it does do is keeps them from victimizing for a while. The important thing is you got your stuff back. He needs to face you and apologize and tell you how he's gonna reimburse you...We had a program for businesses that were stolen from in a community. The perp had to face a panel of business people, including the actual victim. They had "discussions" with the perp and, I believe, worked out some sort of "pay back" to the community/business. I don't know if they still have it, but it was working pretty effectively.

Sounds like he should be charged with burglary too. Over $500 in stuff and you have pictures of him stealing right? I am not sure if they would go for that, but finally the good guys win. Glad to hear you got your stuff back. I think I am gonna go home and take pictures of all of my stuff, in case something like this happens to me.

Best piece I've read so far this morning. Good on you for being pro-active and following up. We're looking forward to hearing more about his conviction and hopefully, a sentence that will be appropriate. Glad you got your stuff back, a rare event these days.

Why did you have to pay anything to the pawn shop. You shouldnt. They recieved stolen property and you can prove it is your. Did you have the police meet you there?

I paid the ticket so that i could have my stuff back that day. The officer could have taken the rods for evidence and i would eventually get them back and the pawn shop could seek restitution from the theif. Then it becomes a situation where they are out the money (two victims). This a reason why MOST shops dont even bother calling in stuff like that. The fact that i made the list of my gear, My cousin worked at a competing but friendly shop, i know both officers, etc. Made my stuff coming back a little more likely.
As it stands the rest of my gear is in county evidence and will get it back after trial. I now have a direct link to this idiot, I filled out my restitution papers, get to speak my mind in court as to his sentencing and will be informed of all his trial activities wether i can attend or not.
But to answer your question about why did i pay. When a loan is given on personnal items, there is a 30 day hold on those items to check for stolen property. It becomes a thing of he said she said. He walked in with HIS fishing poles to get a loan. Im sure he would have never gone back for them, so after 30 days they become property of the shop. Im out. If i can still prove its mine, The pawn shop did their due dilligence and i can get my stuff back at their expense. Thats why they dont try too hard to get background on things like tools and fishing gear. They lose money, and people quit bringing in stuff. Its like scrap dealers, If they quit taking guard rails, playground bleachers and bronze vases from cemeterys via the tweekers nobody would have anything to do.

Ask the DA if you can go to his house and take some stuff, he has to have something lying around that could be sold, only he would have something that is valuable.
That would be a good thing to do, if items are found at someones place and there are things missing from your items then they should just let you go shopping at his crappy house.

Ok, so today was a very good day. As of approx. 11:00AM i recieved back the rest of my fishing gear. Tackle box, and 5 rods and reels (minus one rod tip). The dirtbag is going to plead guilty to one count of possession of stolen property a class B felony. He is being sentenced to 12 months and 1 day in prison because Clark County Jail is so miserable, criminals are taking more time in prison so they dont have to do time in county lockup.
He will also recieve to concurrant 90 day paroll violations, and will have his probation extended to 5 years when he gets out.
I doubt he will recieve any drug treatment or any kind of rehabilitation, But his criminal history mostly is assult on family members and police.
He will probably only do 6 to 8 months if he gets time off for good behavior. This is pretty much the end of this and i am glad.
I did a few things to become more actively involved in the community. I met with my neighborhood association and our community officer for my area to become part of my neighborhood watch program.
I definately want to again thank R&W Loan in Vancouver. If they would not have made the 1st call none of this would have happened. Vancouver Police Dept, Clark County Sherrifs Office and the Vancouver Prosecutor that stuck it to this guy. I kinda wanna be a cop now so i could bust bad guys.
