How often do you fish your favorite spots?

How often can one fish a favorite spot before the pressure affects productivity? I found that some of my favorites last summer didn't produce nearly as well this summer... even when throwing a lot of variety at them. I fish some of my spots 2-3 times per month. Is it too much? I'm interested in what you guys think. Thanks for your insights.

I can fish spots up to about twice a week until I start seeing a significant drop off in productivity. Usually I limit myself to once a week on good spots just to be careful.

I fish some spots once a week and other farther away five times a year.
This is a good time for shore fishing for Smallies. And once a week does not seam to have much impact. You never know how many others are fishing you spots when you are not there. But the more you fish an area the more you will develop a working knowledge of what spots are more productive and what area to pass up and not waste your time on. One example is me fishing the east bank of the Willy down town. After fishing that stretch for over a month I have found the real hot spots and on those spots I get bass over two pounds on every trip (or almost every trip). I know lots of people fish that stretch but have not found the hot spots or are using a technique that is not as productive for the spots. Now when I hit that bank I run and gun and only fish the hot spots and on the way back hit everything looking for more hot spots. If you look at my photos you will know the areas but not the exact location. It will get you near the fish you will have to do the rest of the work (and that is not much) in finding the sweet spots. I did learn a new technique this week. I cast - open bail - and walk back. As I work the bait it comes at me down stream. Instead of reeling I just take a few steps backwards. That keeps the bait in the strike zone and had helped me land my second biggest smally on this stretch.

good question , I have often wondered the same thing. one of my favorite spots loved buzzbaits last yr , same place a yr later and I cant buy a buzz bite .
