Where to go for Cutts with my 11 y/o? - North coast range

We'll be in Astoria this weekend for a soccer game. I would love to spend Sunday fishing the coast range rivers for Cutts on the way home to the Portland area. I am not necessarily looking for large fish. I'd just like to get him into some trout on a river somewhere as he continues to learn to fly fish.

Does anyone have any suggestions for accessible water with decent shot at some fish? I am thinking Nehalem but have no idea where to go.

might trythe necanicum(sp?) that dumps in at seaside i caught alot in august there one year its worth a try and isnt too far. yellow humpies did pretty good

Hey bobberdown...where can you fish that river at? just pull off of 101 and fish where the river is next to the road, or is there any other access to that river? I used to fish that river when i was younger. Aunt and uncle had a duplex in cannon beach and we would walk up a logging road that followed the river,,lots of trout in it way back then,,,but i think that road is not accesable now..thanks for the info..
