I apologize if this question has already been asked, but here's a new thread question. If you could only have one dry fly pattern and one subsurface pattern to fish out the rest of your days with, what would they be?
For me:
Dry: #14 Black Caddis
Wet: #12 Bead head Pheasant Tail
You??

Wet - Im going to say a Black Gnat cause Bead head Pheasant tail has already been said.
I've caught alot a nice trout on a Black Gnat under the bridge on the Mckenzie by Trail Bridge. :D Plus it's a true wet fly...

Parachute Adams #16(There's a good reason so many guys are choosing this one, BTW)
Bead head Hare's Ear #14
I mainly had the Deschutes in mind when making my pick though.

Definitely a pattern here (no pun intended). Thanks for those who are participating! Here on the eastside of the state I probably sell more Woolly Buggers and Yellow Humpies than anything, but the Prince and Elk Hair Caddis are always popular. The EHC's are requested in rust, yellow, cream and olive, with the edge going to the rust color.
Was glad to see the Griffith's make the list. Obviously, if I had given a specific water body, or simply said "stream" or "stillwater" the responses most likely would have differed. Fortunately, we don't have to choose just one pattern (unless we're in a One Fly Contest)!
I find it interesting to think back and realize how the contents of my fly boxes have changed over the years -- even how the way I tie specific flies have "evolved" over a couple of decades or so. That's what's great about the sport...always changing due to new materials, new waters, new ideas. What a great hobby we share!
